The Grateful Journal Series
I believe we are all born with some gift that God strategically equipped us with. We all have a purpose; we are all part of God’s plan, even those who spend little time on this earth. Some never get to understand their gift because their lives are cut short, but their purpose is no less important than yours or mine.
Those of us who do get more time need to look closely at our skills, passions, hobbies, and interests to find what God has gifted us with. And then ask ourselves, “How does He want me to use my gift for His glory?”
Everything we do should glorify God. And no matter our skills, from the small to the remarkable, we were given our gifts for a unique purpose: to spread the gospel, minister to others, love others, and be selfless in helping others, all in the name of Jesus Christ.
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

I believe my primary purpose involves writing. I’ve been passionate about writing for most of my life. Before I started writing my first book at age thirteen, I wrote in a journal nearly every day. I wrote poetry and song lyrics, and the subject I excelled at the most in school was English (even though Science and Art were my favorite classes). But it took me over thirty years to realize that I had spent nearly my whole life up to that point using my gift for the wrong things. I spent a lifetime writing for secular audiences and not for the glory of God. Now that I know what I should use my gift for, I’ve abandoned all my secular projects and ideas, and I now write solely for Him.
