I don’t talk about this book much – certainly not because I’m not proud of it – but because the vast majority of my reader audience probably wouldn’t connect with it. At all. In fact, I encourage you not to read it unless you could see yourself reading a book with a Guillermo del Toro theme (Pan’s Labyrinth), or something along the lines of The Devil’s Advocate meets Alice in Wonderland. But I have to be honest – DIRTY EDEN was my absolute favorite book to write.
Recently, the very talented Stephen bel Davies (who also narrated Victor Faust’s voice in KILLING SARAI and REVIVING IZABEL) did a feature on Audible telling us, “The Best Book I Ever Narrated…” – and he chose DIRTY EDEN for his fiction pick! And I have to say, I’m not too big on listening to my own books in audio – or even reading them again after I’ve written them – but Stephen did such a fantastic ‘performance’ of DIRTY EDEN that I was glued to my ear buds for two days listening. To me, it wasn’t just an audio book, it felt like a performance, and I was in awe.
Anyway, I wanted to let you all hear what Stephen bel Davies had to say about why his favorite narration was DIRTY EDEN. :-)
