I had a great time in New Orleans for SIBA (Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance) and I just want to thank SIBA for giving me the opportunity to attend! I was so nervous, this only being my second author/book signing event ever, and everyone there made me feel right at home! Unfortunately, I was so nervous that I didn’t think to get any photos of myself attending. *slaps forehead* Hopefully I’ll come across at least one photo eventually since I took photos for other people. Send them my way if you get a chance! :-)
But I do want to give a shout out to my ‘table mate’, Artis Henderson (in the first photo below), author of UNREMARRIED WIDOW: A MEMOIR, who was probably the sweetest person I’ve ever met.
Before and after the event, I enjoyed New Orleans so much that I’m already ready to go back.
I went on an airboat ride and got to hold a baby alligator that our guide actually caught right out of the water. Awesome.
Yes, this is a real alligator climbing up the side of our boat just feet from me! More awesome! God, I love NOLA.
I didn’t want to stand underneath the wooden porch in the shade because there were several GIANT banana spiders under it. I don’t do spiders. Gators I can manage. Spiders. No.
And a trip to New Orleans wouldn’t be right without a visit to Old Point Bar where Camryn and Andrew performed together in THE EDGE OF NEVER! It was so surreal to be in this place! Even though I wrote about it, I had never been in it until now. Actually, this was my first time in New Orleans.
These last few photos below are some that Abbie Dauenheimer sent me when she and Angela Michalski visited Old Point Bar a few months ago. I’m only just now getting around to posting them on my blog, but I think it’s the perfect opportunity. Thanks for the photos, Abbie!
Good times! New Orleans is awesome!
